Venice Beach

While on Spring Break in Southern Cali, the day before we came home, we spent most of the day tooling around Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive, Hollywood Boulevard and so forth. We've been there before, but it's still interesting to see. So, on our way back to our hotel from Hollywood, we decided we'd take a side trip to Venice Beach. It was on the way and none of us had ever been there before. I'm sure you've all heard stories about Venice Beach and it's "eclectic" patrons.

It was chilly that day, so we didn't expect to see much. It turned out to be interesting to say the least. I didn't get a picture of the man in his American Flag thong but did get a picture of the muscle beach sign and the fitness equipment outside! I'm kinda glad it was chilly because that meant fewer "eclectic" people out and about which in turn meant fewer explanations to my children ;)

Along the boardwalk there were several t-shirt shops which had some shirts with questionable messages on them. Now that Kristin can read, and read well, we were quite anxious to get by them. She did manage to read one. Ryan overheard her reading it to Hannah, but, thankfully at their ages they didn't quite understand the underlying message. They did find the squirrel on the front of the shirt with his nuts kinda funny though! I would imagine in the heart of summer that place is everything I've heard about on t.v. and more!

Shannon, thanks so much for the blog. I also love the song you have playing. It is probably my favorite. It gives me goose bumps every time I hear it. Hope all is going well. Liz turned 7 today. Hard to believe how fast she is growing up. Your girls like wise.
